Unsung heroes award

On January 15, 2019, The Genealogy Guys and Vivid-Pix announced the beginning of their new Unsung Heroes Awards program. It is a quarterly awards program designed to recognize and celebrate members of the genealogy community who digitize or index photos and other documents of value to genealogical researchers.
One of our members submitted the Genealogical Society of Linn County Iowa in the genealogical/historical society category citing our project to scan and index approximately 70,000 records from our collection of Cancelled Cedar Rapids Voter Registration Cards for the years prior to and including 1966. Much to our surprise, our society was selected to be awarded the first ever Unsung Heroes award! The win was announced at Roots Tech (a national genealogy conference) held in Salt Lake City on March 1st. It was published on The Genealogy Guys (http://blog.genealogyguys.com/search?q=linn+county+iowa) and Vivid-Pix blogs and it was announced on The Genealogy Guys podcast (http://genealogyguys.com/the-genealogy-guys-podcast-358).
This would not have been possible without the grants we have received from the Linn County Historic Preservation Society and from the Greater Cedar Rapids Foundation. We just want to say thank you to them and to everyone who gave up their time to volunteer at our society!
